BORDER CHOICE SELF FIT

We would like to congratulate and thank you for purchasing one of our unique swimming pool borders; you'll be amazed like many of our customers at the transformation it will make to your swimming pool. All of our products are tested in actual pools with day to day grime and sunlight, however, it is not possible to predict what nature of cleaning methods each individual person uses and in some cases this can cause damage to this product. By following our fitting instructions exactly you should not have any problems. NOTE: our borders will not stick to silicone areas.

FITTING INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Drain the water one or two inches below the skimmers (lower if 10in border being fitted).
  2. Turn off the skimmers/pool pump.
  3. DO NOT REMOVE SKIMMER PLATE (IF GASKET WORN WATER CAN LEAK BEHIND LINER).
  4. VERY IMPORTANT: The area where the border is to be fitted needs to be prepared by using a strong de-greaser, completely remove all traces of grease, grime and dirt. Allow to dry.  If not done properly this will cause lack of adhesion.
  5. Choose a suitable start point, (we have found the skimmer is a good start point). If you have a plastic trim around the top of your pool the border needs to be placed under this ensuring it does not touch or go over the plastic trim.
  6. Ensure you have your border strip the correct way round then check your strip for ‘the bleed or overlap’.  You will see that one side of the strip has a wider gap; this is the side you will overlap with your second strip onwards.
  7. Peel the backing strip off of the border, line up the top corner and bottom edge, ensure the border is level using a visible guide along the pool edge. (Pool liner edgings are not always level).  
  8. Starting from the centre out, use the squeegee ensuring all air bubbles and excess water are removed, Be careful not to overstretch as this can cause shrinkage.
  9. Repeat step 6 overlap the ‘bleed’ as mentioned and repeat step 7. Continue this process until you get to the corners.
  10. CORNERS – Can be tricky, we have found too make it easier when fitting corners to simply cut the strip down into two or three small strips for a perfect fit.
  11. Make sure all edges of the strips are stuck down well by adding pressure. We would strongly advise trying to line up to fit on first application. Be careful not to handle the adhesive side of the product especially ‘fingers on corners’ as this will reduce adhesion.
  12. Leave to dry for 48 hours. Top the pool water back up to the correct level and turn the pump and skimmers back on.
  13. Please keep any off cuts or spare border.

 HOW TO MAINTAIN AND PROTECT YOUR BORDER

We hope you are delighted with the transformation that has taken place by using our product.  The following information is either for yourselves or for the person who will be maintaining your pool.

To keep your border in Tip Top condition, like your pool it needs to be cleaned.  It’s quite simple, all you need to do once per week is to dip a soft sponge in the water and give the border a ‘GENTLE’ wipe over, no abrasives or cleaning agents required.  This will stop the build up of oils.  Should your pool be heavily used or indeed a communal pool, then please ensure the border is wiped over twice per week.
